Most Common Bot Farms in OSRS 2024
This is a guide on the most commonly botted areas in OSRS. We do not support or endorse bot farming in OSRS.
Chinchompas
Moderate Setup with Efficient Hunting Gains:
Botting at chinchompas requires a moderate level of setup, mainly needing specific Hunter levels and basic equipment, like box traps. Once these are in place, chinchompa hunting is straightforward and repetitive, which bots can handle easily. The main challenge—finding a spot without competition—is minimized by the remote location, where bots can operate with minimal interference. Chinchompas have predictable spawning and trapping patterns, making it easy for bots to automate trap placement and resetting routines, requiring very little complex scripting.
High Profits from Rare, Valuable Drops:
Chinchompas, especially red and black chinchompas, are among the most profitable creatures in OSRS, used in ranged training by high-level players due to their explosive multi-target damage. Black chinchompas, in particular, are highly valuable in the Grand Exchange, yielding high GP per hour for bots that can collect them in bulk. Bots farming chinchompas provide a steady supply to meet this player demand, and profits scale quickly, especially when left uninterrupted, making it a lucrative target for bot farmers.
Ban Rates Are Moderately High but Profitable Before Detection:
Although botting black chinchompas carries a relatively high ban risk due to their location in the Wilderness and frequent player interactions, many bots are able to sustain profitable runs before being banned. Scripts for chinchompa botting often include evasion techniques to detect approaching players and escape, allowing bots to survive longer and prolong their hunting operations. However, Jagex has been vigilant about banning bots in this area due to their impact on the game’s economy, leading to a moderate ban rate—but usually not before the bot has already turned a profit.
Sand crabs
Easy Setup and Minimal Attention Required:
Sand Crabs are extremely simple for bots to farm, as they have high health, low damage, and don’t require players to constantly move or react. Bots only need a basic combat setup and can engage with crabs for extended periods due to their low aggression. Once set up to auto-retaliate, a bot can train on crabs continuously with minimal scripting, only needing to reset by logging out and back in occasionally if crabs lose aggressiveness. This makes Sand Crabs one of the easiest spots for low-maintenance, high-yield combat training.
Profit Through High Combat Levels and Account Selling:
Although Sand Crabs don’t drop valuable items, bots farming here focus on generating high combat experience, allowing them to quickly build high-level accounts. These accounts are then either sold or used for gold farming in higher-level PvM (Player versus Monster) activities that yield more valuable loot. By automating combat training at Sand Crabs, bot farms can churn out “combat-ready” accounts, which are in high demand in the account-selling market for players who want to skip early-game grinding.
Bans Are Relatively Slow Due to Crowded Area:
Bots at Sand Crabs tend to avoid immediate detection and bans, as the area is naturally crowded with both real players and other bots. This high player density makes it harder for Jagex’s bot detection systems to single out specific behaviors or patterns without impacting legitimate players. Additionally, the lack of aggressive player reporting in these non-PvP zones (unlike the Wilderness) means that many bot accounts can go undetected for longer periods, making it more viable for bot farms to sustain operations here and profit over time.
Minnows
Easy Setup with Simple, Repetitive Mechanics:
Minnow fishing requires relatively low setup and straightforward mechanics, making it ideal for botting. Bots need only level 82 Fishing and access to the Fishing Guild, where they can use a small fishing net to repeatedly catch minnows. The predictable pattern of fishing spots and the minimal player interaction involved allow bots to operate with basic, repetitive scripts. Additionally, there’s no need to bank or move far, as the fishing spots shift within the same dock area, so bots can fish for long periods without sophisticated coding.
Steady Profits from Converting Minnows to Sharks:
Minnows convert into raw sharks at a 40:1 ratio, meaning bots can amass sharks in large quantities without direct player input. Raw sharks have stable demand and value on the Grand Exchange as they’re used for high-level healing in PvM and PvP. A bot farm fishing minnows can generate a consistent and substantial GP per hour, making it highly profitable over time. The reliable flow of sharks into the market also ensures that bots fishing minnows remain economically viable.
Low Ban Rate Due to Private Area and Limited Player Interaction:
The minnow fishing area in the Fishing Guild is isolated from the more populated parts of Gielinor and sees limited player traffic, reducing the likelihood of bot reports. As a result, bots can often farm for extended periods without interference or detection. The low interaction and stable fishing mechanics also make it harder for Jagex’s anti-botting systems to flag minnow bots quickly, resulting in a relatively low ban rate compared to bots in more interactive or crowded areas. This lets bots remain at the minnow platform for longer, maximizing profit before detection.
Soul wars
Easy Setup with Minimal Requirements:
Soul Wars botting requires relatively low effort to set up. A basic combat-ready account with access to the Soul Wars minigame is all that’s needed. The repetitive nature of the gameplay—picking up bandages, attacking NPCs like the avatar, or simply AFKing in safe zones—makes it easy for bots to blend in. Scripts can be designed to perform minimal actions that avoid detection, such as occasional movement or attacking weak mobs, allowing bots to farm zeal points without requiring sophisticated AI.
Profits Through Reward Points and XP:
The primary draw for botting Soul Wars is the reward shop. Bots farm zeal points, which can be exchanged for experience in various combat skills or for coveted rewards like imbue scrolls. Imbue scrolls are highly sought after for their ability to imbue rings, making them valuable on the Grand Exchange. This creates a steady source of income for bot farmers. Additionally, the combat XP gained during games makes it a dual-purpose botting activity, leveling accounts while generating profit.
Low to Moderate Ban Rate Due to Crowded Matches:
Soul Wars matches often involve dozens of players, making it harder to detect bots amidst the chaos. The minigame’s team-based nature and the fact that many legitimate players AFK or play passively help bots blend in. Jagex’s anti-bot measures do target Soul Wars, but the sheer volume of participants and the non-disruptive nature of botting actions result in a moderate ban rate. Many bots can operate for extended periods before being flagged, making it a profitable venture despite the risk.
